A Toast to A Special Woman in Your Life

Weddings often celebrate the father/daughter bond, but don't forget to acknowledge your mom, grandmother or another influential woman in your life. ©micromonkey/DPC.

Weddings have many storied traditions that are great fun to incorporate now. However, missing from weddings is an element of the agency of the bride. There is the father/daughter dance, being walked down the aisle by dad, and much more (all great traditions that most fathers feel honored to partake in). However, if you want to get a bit more modern, take some time to honor the women in your life on your wedding day.

Consider making a toast to the women in your life who have had the greatest impact on you. Don't feel like you need to include only one, rather make a touching speech to all the women who have helped mold you into the person you are.

Another idea is to have a ladies dance, perhaps to a song that you feel celebrates women (and has a great beat). If you are having trouble coming up with the perfect song, you can ask your band or DJ, or ask for input from your bridesmaids.
